Julie Anne Fox
A passion for all the arts
The Artwork
My first love is landscape and still-life but I have also worked in sculpture, performance art and video art. In 2023, I started basket weaving with local materials. My attraction to this art is creating something to represent our beach flora and minerals in Guysborough County. Each basket or amulet pouch is named after the beach location where the materials were foraged.
About Julie Anne Fox
As a young artist I attended the rigorous, traditional adult art program at Central Technical School in Toronto and studied life drawing, painting, and sculpture. While at the University of Toronto’s Fine Art program I found a fascination with the time-based arts of video art and documentation and subsequently had a career in video documentation in both the fine arts and medical spheres. Thanks for this multivariate training I also have experience with bronze casting, carpentry, jewellery making, pottery, and photography.
I am keen on volunteering in the arts community and have served as both Vice-President and President of the University of Toronto Fine Arts Student Union invigorating the bi-annual shows by organizing and promoting student work. I was also volunteer administrative assistant at the Toronto School of Art organizing the student records and helping during exhibitions and street fairs.
I have art work in private collections and also at Vtape, an archive for video and new media.
