Always Learning…
The Artwork
My newest oil paintings reflect life in the Canadian Maritime provinces in recent years. Many include Chedabucto Bay, which is the view I see daily from my studio. However, I also experiment with abstract art, both large and small. And my monoprints reflect scenes from all over North America.
About Lee Leonard
I have been a painter in oils for 50 years, although I sometimes work in acrylics or watercolors. I have also been a printmaker for 15 years working mostly with mono prints. My work varies from representational to abstract.
I first trained at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston Massachusetts and was mentored by Henry Hensche from the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown. I later received printmaking training from the Museum School of Art in Boston and continued for 10 years at the South Shore Art Collaborative in Cohasset Massachusetts. Over the years, I also graduated from Rittner’s School of Floral Design in Boston and worked as a floral designer for 10 years to help support my family.
I lived with my husband Jack and raised three boys in Boston for many years. In 2006, my husband and I began spending time in Nova Scotia. We eventually moved here and became permanent residents in 2024. The waters and forests of Nova Scotia have not stopped providing inspiration to my paintings and prints.
My work has been shown consistently in galleries and small museums in the New England area as well as Guysborough, Antigonish, and Halifax.
