Joanna Miller
Joanna is influenced by the art and music of the Romantic and Impressionist eras, and the philosophy of the Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20th century. She is also a gown designer, sewist, and embroiderer, creating one-of-a-kind wedding gowns from reclaimed textiles, freshwater pearls, and Czech glass beads. She loves classical music, jazz, and history. Through her art, Joanna aims to inspire us to see and celebrate all that is good and beautiful in the world.
Joanna Miller was born in Ontario into an artistic family. She was encouraged from a young age to pursue the arts and went on to study visual art at an esteemed secondary school. After studying design in post secondary school, Joanna took an interest in swing dancing (Lindy Hop), where she met her husband. Together they lived in Toronto for several years before moving to Nova Scotia in 2021 with their two daughters.
Joanna works mainly in oil and watercolour, and draws inspiration from the beauty and peace of the natural world. Through her paintings, Joanna seeks to capture the honest and simple character of the places she paints.
